Millennial's Android ad requests grow 77% month-over-month
Ad requests from Android smartphones increased 77 percent between March and April according to mobile advertising network Millennial Media, which adds Android requests across its network have now grown 282 percent since January 2010. Despite Android's gains, Apple's iPhone remains the dominant mobile OS on the Millennial network, generating 62 percent of smartphone impressions in April despite a month-over-month decrease of 8 percent. Research In Motion's BlackBerry follows iPhone at 17 percent of impressions, up 3 percent over March; Android is third with 10 percent of impressions, trailed by Windows Mobile at 5 percent.
Smartphones now yield 45 percent of total Millennial impressions--feature phones generate 35 percent, with the remaining 20 percent originating via connected devices. Millennial ads that requests from Apple's new iPad tablet increased 77 percent week-over-week during the first full month following the device's early April retail introduction.
