MMA launches Latin American chapter
Non-profit trade association the Mobile Marketing Association announced the launch of its Latin American chapter following the conclusion of its first Latin America Mobile Marketing Forum, which took place Wednesday in São Paulo, Brazil. The MMA already counts 40 Latin American member organizations, and said it will conduct elections for its Latin American Board of Directors in the coming months. The MMA now boasts chapters in North America, Europe, the Middle East & Africa and Asia Pacific. "In the past three years, the MMA has succeeded in removing global barriers to market development enabling the industry to collaborate to build a global mobile marketing ecosystem," said MMA president Laura Marriott in a prepared statement. "Latin America represents a large base of mobile savvy consumers and the MMA is pleased to have a formal presence in the region."

There's already a lot of activity and creativity going on in LATAM mobile marketing. I was there for the launch and we are absolutely excited about MMA arriving in Latin America. Every market profit from clear rules, best practices and standards, and an open network of ideas - and this is what we believe MMA will bring to LATAM.
