Mobile analytics firms Flurry and Pinch Media merging

Tools

Mobile software analytics firms Flurry and Pinch Media announced plans to merge, outlining plans to expand their efforts beyond providing data into developer services offering tools to mine user information to better target consumers with relevant applications. MobileBeat reports the firms will operate under the Flurry brand once the deal is completed, with Flurry CEO Simon Khalef remaining at the helm and Pinch Media CEO Greg Yardley transitioning to vice president of products--the combined company will boast offices in San Francisco and New York City, with no layoffs planned.

In October, Flurry announced an agreement with T-Mobile USA to introduce a free, co-branded analytics solution for T-Mobile Partner Network developers writing for the Android, BlackBerry and J2ME platforms. The solution promises developers insight into how consumers interact with applications, collecting anonymous from end-user sessions and then reporting aggregated information designed to improve apps and boost user satisfaction. In addition, T-Mobile USA will receive access to aggregated application usage data to bolster store merchandising and consumer discovery of new software.
