Mobile publishing platform Verve Wireless closes $7M round
Mobile publishing and advertising solutions provider Verve Wireless closed a $7 million financing round led by BlueRun Ventures, with previous investor The Associated Press also participating.
Verve Wireless offers news and targeted advertising distribution and management tools optimized for local publishers, with solutions spanning across mobile platforms including iPhone and Android; more than 750 media companies worldwide leverage the Verve Connect premium local ad network, including McClatchy and Belo Interactive. Consumers have downloaded more than 7 million Verve apps to date, with more than 14 million readers accessing news information via the Verve platform in July 2010--a 151 percent year-over-year increase. That same month, the firm served 150 million mobile news pages, a 105 percent increase over the previous year. Verve Wireless adds the new funding will support additional development and expansion of its services.
