MobiTV launching A&E Network mobile channels
Mobile television provider MobiTV announced an agreement with A&E Television Networks to launch the cable network's made-for-mobile channels A&E Mobile and History Channel. A&E already is selling against the WAP-enabled content, scheduled to premiere in October. The network currently distributes programming across new-media platforms including iTunes, Amazon Unbox, AOL Video and Xbox. "The mobile platform is an increasingly important interactive screen that provides our consumers with access to our branded programming wherever and whenever they want it, and we are pleased to partner with MobiTV to offer A&E Mobile and The History Channel Mobile to viewers," said Paul Jelinek, AETN senior VP of digital media. "These mobile channels enable us to offer a new service to our existing audience, and through cross promotion, to bring new viewers back to our linear channels."
