MobUI acquires Action Engine

Mobile application development firm MobUI announced its acquisition of on-device portal technology provider Action Engine. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. According to MobUI, it plans to exploit Action Engine's mobile development platform to expand its focus beyond iPhone and mobile web applications to support downloadable, native mobile apps. Action Engine also boasts customers including AOL, The Wall Street Journal.com, MarketWatch.com, Barron's.com, MSNBC.com and Sports Illustrated.  

In addition, MobUI announced the completion of a funding round led by Latin American application services provider GlobalNET Mobile Solutions. The company did not announce the total of the financing.
