MocoSpace eyes social gaming expansion post-SoftBank investment
Social entertainment destination MocoSpace announced the close of a $3.5 million strategic funding round led by venture firm SoftBank Capital, stating the funds will support the expansion of its mobile browser-based social gaming efforts. According to MocoSpace, the SoftBank investment will fuel development of its MocoSpace Games platform, promising developers both a robust working environment as well as access to the company's 14 million users, who together rack up 3 billion pageviews and play 1 million games on the site each month.
MocoSpace notes it is presently in talks with a number of mobile game developers to provide a range of titles across the platform. In addition, the firm plans to introduce its own browser-based mobile social game.
