More details on Verizon's new search effort
As reported on the FierceMobileContent web site yesterday, Verizon Wireless has implemented a content search application which it calls Get It Now Search. I neglected to mention that the search app has a voice-input feature that lets users simply ask aloud what they're looking for. I met Jeff Damir, VP of Medio Systems (the company providing the search technology to Verizon) at the WIC reception last night and he estimates that such search functionality should increase mobile content sales by 50 percent. That's a bold statement, so we'll have to keep an eye on it.
