Most iPhone apps downloaded on the weekend
Consumers are 30 percent more likely to download iPhone and iPod touch applications on the weekend, and also spend more on apps on Saturdays and Sundays, according to a new study published by mobile analytics firm Flurry. Premium iPhone game are downloaded 48 percent more often on weekends than weekdays, Flurry reports, and premium non-game apps are downloaded 36 percent more frequently--moreover, free non-game downloads increase 27 percent on the weekend, and free game downloads grow 26 percent.
Flurry contends that the trend correlates to free time--on weekdays, consumers browse the App Store and download free applications, but save their premium app purchases until the weekend, when they have more time to make informed decisions. Flurry recommends that developers release their apps as early as possible in a given week to exploit the trend, giving consumers more time to "kick the tires" in advance of weekend spending.
