Motorola announced Motocast, an application created for mobile device home screens promising customers efficient access to information, content and services. According to Motorola, Motocast delivers "zero-click" access to mobile data, delivering continuously updated information and content from a variety of providers without requiring consumers to press buttons or visit WAP sites. Motocast will launch with two content channels: a Reuters news service and a Motorola channel featuring company news and promotions, device tips and one-click access to wallpapers, ringtones, applications and games. Motorola will introduce additional channels in the months ahead.

"With Motocast, customers will be able to realize the full potential of their devices with no complexity; there is nothing to install, no feature hidden away, no WAP browser to find or numerous pages to click through--the service operates out of the box," said Motorola's regional lead for Northern Europe Stephen Nolan in a prepared statement.
