Motorola suggests Ontela photo app for Hint
Mobile imaging solutions provider Ontela announced its photo-saving service is now available on Motorola's new Hint QA30. Photos snapped via the phone's 2.0 megapixel camera are automatically saved to the user's home PC, email and/or preferred online image sharing site using the Ontela solution--while the service normally retails for $2.99 per month, Hint owners are offered a free trial upon purchase. "Ten percent of people who try our service will pay for it," said Ontela CEO Dan Shapiro in an interview with FierceMobileContent. "Some of our carrier partners are now offering pre-loading in their retail stores, which works incredibly well for us." Ontela adds that in a 2008 survey the firm conducted, 90 percent of respondents said they want to automatically save their camera phone photos to their PC, email or favorite websites, but only 19 percent were actually able to do it.
In related Ontela news, the company announced it has received funding from Eastven Venture Partners, the funding arm of mobile handset maker Sony Ericsson. Ontela did not disclose the dollar amount attached to the financing. Its technology is now available across 30 carrier networks, including Verizon and Alltel.
