Motricity extends Axiata deal across Asia Pacific region
Mobile content solutions provider Motricity will expand its partnership with Axiata, agreeing to deliver end-to-end mobile web and data solutions to the Asian telecommunication goliath's operating companies Dialog (Sri Lanka), Robi (Bangladesh) and Hello (Cambodia). Motricity previously inked similar deals with Indonesian operator XL Axiata and Malaysian carrier Celcom Axiata; its hosted mCore Platform promises the tools to design, configure, customize and implement highly personalized mobile web experiences, enabling subscribers to more efficiently access their social networks, make purchases and search for information. Axiata, including its subsidiaries and associates, serves over 150 million mobile subscribers across the Asia Pacific region.
Earlier this month, Motricity stated it will power Reliance Communications' new R World mobile data portal, developed in conjunction with the Indian operator giant's 3G services rollout. Promising Reliance Mobile's 120 million subscribers one-button access to personalized data and web solutions, R World leverages the mobile-as-a-service mCore platform as well.
Motricity first announced its partnership with Reliance in October--the firm states it required only 55 days after signing the agreement to get the R World portal up and running. Following the Reliance deal, Motricity reported third quarter 2010 revenues of $37.9 million, up 35 percent from $28.1 million in the year-ago quarter. According to Motricity, managed services revenues increased 19 percent to $24.2 million, while professional services revenue surged 78 percent to $13.7 million.
