Motricity mulling InfoSpace acquisition?

The Triangle Business Journal reports mobile content solutions provider Motricity is closing in on a deal to acquire digital media firm InfoSpace's mobile business, a move that promises to solidify Motricity's anticipated IPO. According to the report, Motricity has raised as much as $175 million from private markets to finance the InfoSpace buyout, bringing its valuation to a reputed $500 million.

After losing a ringtone licensing deal with AT&T, InfoSpace's mobile business suffered a revenue slump of more than 30 percent in the second quarter, falling to $30.8 million compared to Q2 2006.
