Motricity's Q3 revenues surge 35 percent to $37.9 million

Tools

Mobile content solutions provider Motricity reported third quarter 2010 revenues of $37.9 million, up 35 percent from $28.1 million in the year-ago quarter. According to Motricity, managed services revenues increased 19 percent to $24.2 million, while professional services revenue surged 78 percent to $13.7 million. The company credits the growth in professional services revenue to large implementation projects for AT&T (NYSE:T) and Indonesian mobile operator XL Axiata--the latter deal includes the launch of the XLGo! solution, announced Tuesday. Powered by Motricity's hosted, mobile-as-a-service mCore platform, XLGo! promises XL Axiata's 38.5 million subscribers one-click access to the mobile web, social networking tools, email, personalized content and carrier information. Last month, Indian operator Reliance also deployed the mCore platform to better oversee its growing mobile data services business--per Motricity's 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Reliance serves more than 100 million subscribers.

During the third quarter, Motricity also introduced mCore MobileCast, a content management service promising to deliver relevant media, applications and digital goods directly to subscribers' smartphones. MobileCast leverages consumer preferences and insights to offer a personalized user experience engineered to simplify content discovery--operators and enterprises can develop and offer a range of content formats (including HTML5, audio, video and text) to devices like iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone 7 smartphones, driving brand awareness, promotions and commerce. MobileCast use-case examples include targeted marketing, mobile commerce transactions and dynamic content suggestions based on past usage and preferences--in addition, it includes a complete suite of reporting and insight generation tools, enabling results reporting and real-time adjustment and optimization of campaigns.
