Movistar Chile debuts mobile multimedia suite

Tools

South American operator Movistar Chile launched a new multimedia suite including an interactive mobile TV service, a YouTube-like video sharing portal and Full Access, which enables web surfing via both a GPRS/EDGE network and all 350 Wi-Fi hot spots operated by sister organization Telefónica Chile. The interactive TV service will include three Chilean national channels as well as five international channels. According to Movistar Chile, the video sharing platform--dubbed Video Play--is the first Latin American service of its kind. Non-voice value added services, including text, currently represent close to 20 percent of Movistar's annual revenues.
