mSpot adds Sony Music Entertainment to Make-UR-Tones
Mobile music and entertainment firm mSpot announced a customizable ringtone distribution agreement with Sony Music Entertainment. Per terms of the deal, mSpot Make-UR-Tones customers on Verizon Wireless, AT&T and Sprint may now create personalized ringtones edited down from select full-length Sony Music Entertainment tracks. According to mSpot, the addition of Sony content realizes the company's goal: Offering customizable ringtones from all four major labels, including EMI, Universal Music and Warner Music. mSpot also supplies ringtones from indie labels INgrooves and IRIS, and now offers more than 400,000 songs in all. The firm adds that it increased its subscriber base to over four million users in 2008, representing a 260 percent year-over-year increase.
