mSpot unveils consumer music website
Mobile music and entertainment firm mSpot announced the launch of mSpot.com, a consumer website featuring the firm's Make-UR-Tones ringtone customization service. According to mSpot, the new consumer website enables users to create their own ringtones by sampling up to 30 seconds of their favorite songs, then downloading the finished product to their handset--each customized Make-UR-Tone costs $2.99.
mSpot.com will offer more than 400,000 song titles to choose from, which the company says is about 10 times the catalog size of most other legal ringtone services; alongside music from the EMI, Universal Music, Warner Music, Sony Music, Ingrooves and IRIS catalogs, the website also will feature lyrics, artist bios, recommendations and related music content. Make-UR-Tones is presently available via AT&T and Sprint, with mSpot adding that additional carrier deals are in the pipeline.
