MTV debuts multi-platform video series

Tools

Cable giant MTV announced it will debut a slate of new multi-platform video series including three mobile efforts: Anton & Crapbag, Damien's Other Show and hoodFab. In addition to mobile, the Jackass-inspired claymation shortform series Anton & Crapbag will air weekly on MTV2, with a half-hour compilation special scheduled to debut in May; the special will broadcast simultaneously on MTV2, MTV Tres and MTV's live-streaming channel on Verizon Wireless' VCast Mobile TV service. The three-minute hip-hop trivia series hoodFab will also expand beyond mobile to appear on the MTV2 and MTV Jams channels, while sketch-comedy project Damien's Other Show will appear on MTV Mobile as well as MTV.com.

"The past couple of years have been about experimentation for us on various platforms," said MTV Networks Music Group president of entertainment Brian Graden in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "Slowly but surely we'll be making more of these (nontraditional programs) as new distribution platforms emerge. It also liberates us to pursue projects consistent with our historical DNA since MTV started as a shortform channel."
