MTV introduces Mobile Tribes ad effort
MTV Networks announced the launch of Mobile Tribes, the first mobile extension of its Tribes ad network initiative, promising advertisers access to inventory spanning the content provider's portfolio of iPhone applications as well as over 2,500 independent mobile apps managed by mobile ad network Greystripe. According to MTV Networks, Tribes are demographic-focused vertical ad networks anchored by digital properties like MTV, Comedy Central, VH1 and Spike--the company will introduce three new Tribes (Entertainment Mobile Tribe, Casual Gaming Tribe and Music & Youth Tribe) across iPhone applications for its brand and partner sites, with Miracle Whip dressing announced as the kickoff sponsor. In addition to full-screen iPhone ads, Tribes also includes 300x250 banners and access to rich media ad products, including Greystripe's iFlash ad units, which translate online Flash ads into the HTML5 format.
MTV Networks notes it has now released more than 40 applications for the iPhone and iPad. The company adds it will continue to deliver custom ad opportunities across its mobile services.
