MTV teams with mywaves for ad-supported video
MTV Networks announced a partnership with mobile video destination mywaves to supply the portal with advertiser-supported content from network properties including Jackass. Per terms of the deal, MTV will be responsible for selling ads on the platform, joining with mywaves to serve ads and share revenues--the effort will emphasize 15-second pre-roll units, which an in-house mywaves study indicates fare much better with consumers than five-second and 30-second spots. "We're the leading provider of mobile video in the world, and as we look to extend our reach and open up our vast video content libraries even further on handsets, it's crucial that we embrace the ad-supported model," said MTV Networks senior vice president of digital distribution and partner relations Alice Kim in a prepared statement. "With mywaves, we're giving our fans the ability to freely interact with our content in a unique, ad-supported environment, while driving viewership back to our core TV channels, web and mobile properties."
