Musiwave powers Telus' new mobile music

Tools

Openwave's Musiwave announced today that it is the enabler behind the just launched VCast-like mobile music service from Canadian carrier Telus. Musiwave said the service provides subscribers with more than 400,000 full-track songs from major and independent labels. Musiwave will provide the storefront for mobile subscribers to purchase and download new music. Canadian carrier Telus Mobility launched a mobile music service on Monday, which is much like Verizon Wireless' VCast Music service in the U.S. The service runs over the carrier's EVDO network. The carrier expects it to clock download speeds between 400 Kbps and 700 Kbps in metropolitan areas and 144 Kbps elsewhere. Each song download will cost C$2.49, which includes the data fee of C$0.50 and also includes two copies: one for the phone and one for the PC.
