MySpace, Cingular, InfoSpace team for ringtones

Tools

InfoSpace and popular social networking site MySpace have teamed up to enable up-and-coming bands to make ringtones and distribute them to their fans. The collaboration is an update to Cingular's CTIA launch of The Cingular Mobile Music Studio, which looks to InfoSpace to convert music into ringtones. Some of the lesser known bands on MySpace have strong cult followings thanks to the site. Australian band Shifter will be the first to test out the Studio, which is still in trial mode. The companies expect a full launch "later this spring."
