Napster Mobile officially launches

Tools

As Napster CEO Chris Gorog announced last week, Southeastern regional wireless operator SunComm today went live with the Napster Mobile full-song download music store. Customers will have access to 2 million songs--larger than both Sprint and Verizon's music stores combines--with each track selling for $2. As what seems to be per usual in mobile music services, each song purchased will be a "dual-download" so buyers can download one version to their phone and another to their PC. To access the service, subscribers much purchase either the Sony Ericsson W300 Walkman or W810 Walkman phone, which SunComm is selling through August 20 for a special price of $69.99 and $199.99, respectively, with a two-year agreement. SunComm also debuted a ringtone service today.
