National Geographic launches branded travel phone
Nonprofit scientific and educational organization the National Geographic Society announced the launch of the National Geographic Duet Travel Phone, a branded handset designed specifically for the needs of the international traveler that arrives preloaded with ringtones, wallpapers and travel-related videos from the National Geographic Channel. The Duet device, offered in conjunction with service provider Cellular Abroad, supports two SIM cards and offers additional traveler-centric features including Bluetooth, camera functionality, FM radio, television and a 1GB storage card--according to National Geographic, the pay-as-you-go phone promises affordable calling across 185 countries, free incoming calls in more than 80 countries and 30 minutes of outgoing call credit in most markets. The service also offers 24/7 toll-free U.S.-based customer service directly from the handset via a three-digit access number. The National Geographic Travel SIM card can be purchased separately from the Duet phone for consumers who already own a device optimized for international use.
