Tools

The National Basketball Association is in discussion with China Mobile to bring NBA-licensed multimedia content to the carrier's 290 million wireless subscribers. China is the NBA's largest market, with an annual growth rate of 50 percent over the last several years--the 2005 NBA All-Star game boasted Chinese viewership of 232 million, a 30 percent increase over the 2004 tilt, with Chinese-born Houston Rockets center Yao Ming receiving a record 2,558,278 international fan votes. NBA president Heidi Ueberroth said that the league's international operations currently account for 10 percent of total revenue, and at an annual increase of 30 percent represents the fastest-growing segment of its business.
