NCAA March Madness streaming app goes from free to fee
With the NCAA poised to tip off its annual men's basketball tournament on March 13, partners Turner Sports and CBS Sports announced their NCAA March Madness Live streaming application will transition from a free download to a premium purchase priced at $3.99. For the first time, the app also will be available to devices running Google's (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android mobile operating system.
Slated to go live on March 7, NCAA March Madness Live (formerly March Madness On Demand) boasts live streaming coverage of all 67 games in the tournament, which culminates in the National Championship Game on April 2. Produced by Turner Sports Interactive, NCAA March Madness Live is available across online and mobile platforms including Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone and iPad tablet; fans can view coverage from NCAA broadcast partners TBS, CBS, TNT and truTV over 3G or Wi-Fi, beginning with the NCAA Basketball Selection Show airing March 11.
Beyond live video streaming, NCAA March Madness Live also touts highlights for all games, live game alerts and live radio broadcasts from the Westwood One/Dial Global Radio Network. The app also brings back schedules, scores, statistics, tournament bracket updates and social companion views.
