NewBay debuts unified social address book

Tools

NewBay Networks released its LifeCache Smart Address Book 2.0, a converged social address book that automatically syncs, merges and updated contacts from multiple source and stores the data in the cloud.

The LifeCache 2.0 is a white-label solution that NewBay Networks CEO Nagappan Arunachalam says will likely make its debut soon with a major handset maker and then migrate to wireless carriers. In an interview with FierceMobileContent, Arunachalam said that this type of converged social network solution is being considered by many operators and he expects that all carriers will debut some sort of contact list upgrade by year-end. "This is the next step in social networking."

NewBay says that more than 10 million subscribers are part of its aggregated social networking community, which includes FaceBook, Twitter, YouTube and more.
