ngmoco expands to Android gaming with 'We Rule'

Tools

Six months after the release of its popular iPhone title We Rule, mobile gaming firm ngmoco will extend the game to Android, making its first foray onto the Google-backed platform. In We Rule, gamers preside over their own medieval kingdom, raising crops, collecting taxes and trading with neighboring realms--according to ngmoco, players have placed 5.2 billion buildings and decorations in We Rule kingdoms since the title launched, also plowing 817 billion acres of in-game farmland and completing over 90 million social jobs for users in 70 countries.

Last month, ngmoco completed a new round of funding led by Google and reportedly valued between $3 million and $5 million, bringing the startup's total valuation well above the $100 million mark. Earlier in 2010, ngmoco announced the completion of a $25 million Series C round led by Institutional Venture Partners--since the beginning of 2010, the startup also has acquired two rival iPhone gaming developers, Stumptown Game Machine and Freeverse.
