ngmoco nabs Stumptown Game Machine
Mobile gaming developer and publisher ngmoco announced an agreement to acquire Stumptown Game Machine, the developer behind the iPhone and iPod touch pet simulation app Touch Pets Dogs. Financial terms were not disclosed. Touch Pets Dogs enables gamers to adopt, nurture and play with virtual puppies, as well as arrange play dates with other pet owners worldwide; it previously topped the Free Apps chart in Apple's App Store, with downloads exceeding 5 million.
Stumptown Game Machine is led by founder Andrew Stern, who previously spearheaded development of the Petz interactive virtual gaming franchise. Stern will continue to lead Stumptown Game Machine, which will retain its own name and brand moving forward.
The Stumptown Game Machine deal follows a few months after ngmoco announced the completion of a $25 million Series C financing round led by Institutional Venture Partners. Earlier this year, the firm also acquired iPhone game developer Freeverse.
