Nokia debuts Easy Meet content sharing tool

Nokia announced the introduction of Nokia Easy Meet, promising an intuitive mobile collaboration tool enabling real-time content sharing via wireless devices and PCs. Writing on the Nokia Beta Labs blog, Nokia Easy Meet research leader Umesh Chandra notes the service requires only access to an Internet browser--once a user creates a meeting, Nokia Easy Meet sends out an email and/or SMS to each participant, and after clicking the accompanying link, participants can join the meeting and view the content shared by the host. Content can come directly from the host's device or from remote servers (via Ovi Files).

At present, Nokia Easy Meet supports features including file sharing (PPT, JPEG and PNG), chat, file downloads, remote content access, meeting minutes, whiteboard, gesturing and participant awareness. According to Chandra, the service differs from most web-based collaboration tools by allowing mobile device users to fully participate in collaboration, enabling them to see, interact with and share content directly on or from the device. Nokia adds that Nokia Easy Meet supports regularly scheduled as well as ad hoc meetings, and is targeted to both consumer and enterprise users.
