Nokia announced the launch of its 5330 Mobile TV Edition, calling the feature phone
"an entertainment hub" that brings together DVB-H-based mobile broadcast services, social networking, music and gaming. Boasting a full-color QVGA 2.4" screen, one-click access to live broadcasts and an electronic programming guide enabling users to set reminders for favorite programs as well as create personalized programming lists, the 5330 Mobile TV Edition also features social networking software connecting the device to Ovi Contacts, Facebook, MySpace and YouTube. The device is also compatible with Nokia's Comes With Music all-you-can-eat music subscription service.
Nokia adds it will partner with Nokia Siemens Networks to implement mobile TV offerings across 30 operator networks--commercial launches based on DVB-H and OMA BCAST standards include Austria, Finland, Ghana, Kenya, India, Italy, Namibia, Nigeria, Netherland, Philippines and Switzerland. Commercial launches are planned in more than 20 additional international markets over the next 12 to 18 months.
