Available across NFC-enabled devices including the Nokia C7-00, C7 Astound, 600, 603, 700 and 701, the new titles leverage blank NFC tags as well as existing NFC cards like contactless transit passes and ID badges--phones need only to detect the tags, and do not need to collect, write or alter any data. Consumers can employ the cards as they would traditional playing cards and party games, using their phones to match virtual images, solve puzzles, etc.
Nokia is introducing three tangible games: World Flags (allowing users to wave their smartphone over blank NFC cards to reveal hidden flags), Shakespeare Shuffle (which requires players to rearrange fragmented Shakespeare quotes in the right order) and Nursery Rhyme Shuffle (a family-friendly version of Shakespeare Shuffle, this time based on Mother Goose). Nokia plans to introduce other tangible titles, including word games, math games, adventure games and NFC-enabled updates of classic board games.
