Nokia shuts down Messaging for Social Networks beta

Tools

Nokia has closed its Messaging for Social Networks application beta trial, but said it will incorporate some of the solution's key features into forthcoming Symbian^3 devices like the Nokia N8. Messaging for Social Networks enabled Nokia users to access sites like Facebook and Twitter via one unified application--Nokia said future S^3 handsets will offer similar social networking integration, also connecting contacts with social networks in the device's phonebook as well as sharing users' current location or nearby points of interest. According to a Nokia Beta Labs post announcing Messaging for Social Networks' demise, the handset maker will no longer monitor feedback on the service--user comments already posted to the site are largely negative, no doubt a contributing factor in Nokia's decision.
