Nokia sponsors Slice of Life mobile video contest

Tools

Nokia announced a partnership with short film festival Tropfest@Tribeca to create Slice of Life, a mobile video contest calling for entrants to submit a moment in their day captured via wireless handset. Sponsored by the handset giant's Nseries multimedia device line, Slice of Life requires that all submissions be shot exclusively on mobile phones--each entry should document a spontaneous moment in time, and run no longer than 30 seconds. Submissions are due at the Tropfest@Tribeca website by Sept. 7 with the winner screened during the festival Sept. 23. Nokia will fly the winning filmmaker and a guest to New York City and award them the Nokia N95 multimedia computer, the Nokia N800 Internet Tablet and the Nokia BH-801 Bluetooth headset.

"Our research indicates that nearly half of all respondents used their mobile phone as their primary camera, and using your mobile for video capture is a natural extension," said Andrew Elliott, Nokia North America director of multimedia services. "Seeing that manifest itself at this event will prove how a mobile phone can empower people to not only capture, but easily share memorable moments, as they occur throughout their day to day life."
