Nokia announced an agreement with Island Def Jam Music Group and Universal Music Group International to launch Nokia Play 2010, a new global music partnership that will kick off Nov. 16 when the handset giant streams a live performance spotlighting R&B superstar Rihanna and her forthcoming album Rated R. According to Nokia, the announcement coincides with the worldwide introduction of its Nokia X6 device launched in conjunction with its all-you-can-eat Comes With Music effort--Nokia Play 2010 will offer unique and exclusive music content to fans across the globe, enabling labels and artists to develop new strategies to market their content to mobile subscribers.

The Nov. 16 Rihanna performance will stream live from London--Nokia users can sign up to view the concert, invite friends to watch it simultaneously via Facebook and Twitter, download a widget counting down to the show as well as an exclusive Rihanna mobile app, and download the full Rated R release, which includes an exclusive bonus track. Comes With Music subscribers will also enjoy Rihanna remixes and other additional content free as part of their subscription.
