Nokia tunes up Comes With Music in three new markets
Nokia announced it will introduce its all-you-can-eat digital download service, Comes With Music, in three new markets in tandem with the launch of three new music devices. The handset giant said that in the months ahead it will launch Comes With Music in Italy, Sweden and Mexico--late last month, Nokia said it would roll out the service in Australia, following on the heels of launches in the U.K. and Singapore. In addition, the Nokia Music Store--which enables consumers to browse and purchase music directly from their device--launched today in Mexico, with the Portugal, Norway and South Africa markets scheduled to join the fold in the months ahead. Nokia has not yet confirmed when Comes With Music will make its U.S. premiere--earlier this month, the company halted U.S. sales of its 5800 XpressMusic device, citing 3G signal issues.
With its mobile music efforts expanding, Nokia will debut three new music-optimized, Comes With Music-compatible devices. The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic, which boasts a full QWERTY keyboard, features the Homescreen for XpressMusic, providing direct access and information on music, people, games, email and calendar as well as a contacts bar with up to 20 friends and family members. The Nokia 5330 XpressMusic includes touch keys on the side of the display for instant access to both music and social networking sites including Facebook, MySpace and Nokia's own Ovi. The Nokia 5030 is the company's first phone with an internal FM radio antenna, complete with one-touch radio and channel selection keys on the side of the device--Nokia adds that it doubles as a portable FM radio, making the device ideal for emerging markets, where radio is still a primary source of entertainment and news. According to Nokia, it has now sold more than 425 million devices with a digital music player and more than 700 million with an FM radio.
