NTT DoCoMo takes stake in group web services firm
Japanese operator giant NTT DoCoMo reportedly plans to invest around 10 billion yen ($94.8 million) in parent firm NTT Communications' NTT Resonant subsidiary in an effort to increase the pool of traditional web content and services available to mobile subscribers. Japanese newspaper Nikkei reports DoCoMo plans to offer features like high-resolution mobile video and mobile game downloads direct from PCs, taking a 30 percent stake in NTT Resonant (which operates the goo web portal site and distributes digital content) in its first-ever investment in a fixed-line service provider.
