Omnifone teams with Gracenote for multi-device music
Mobile music service provider Omnifone and music identification services provider Gracenote together announced a new solution promising easy integration of a consumer's personal music collection with an unlimited music subscription service to enable seamless synchronization of both content libraries across an array of personal devices spanning from mobile phones and desktop PCs to home entertainment systems and in-car stereos.
According to Omnifone and Gracenote, the service enables immediate and unlimited access to millions of tracks as well as the flexibility to download, create playlists, receive recommendations and hear music regardless of the user's location or device. For example, a user can assemble a playlist on their home PC, drawing on a combination of tracks from their own collection and the Omnifone unlimited music service, and resume playback in their car after leaving their living room--they can also search for music they hear in a club, download it and synchronize it to all of their devices. Omnifone and Gracenote add that the synchronization solution works across multiple entertainment platforms instantly, at the same time optimizing the quality of the content to allay consumer concerns about file formats or interoperability--on each device, the most appropriate file format and user interface is presented to guarantee the best possible listener experience for that particular environment.
