Ontela merges with Photobucket
Mobile imaging solutions provider Ontela announced it will merge its operations with online image and video sharing website Photobucket. The combined company will operate under the Photobucket Corporation brand. Ontela chief financial officer Tom Munro was named president of the combined company--Jon Miller, chairman and CEO of digital media for News Corp. (which acquired Photobucket in 2007)--will serve as a director.
Photobucket's audience of more than 22 million monthly unique users in the U.S. uploads more than 11 million photos, graphics and videos every day--in all, the site serves more than 100 billion images each month. Ontela's imaging software is currently in use across more than 30 operators including Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile USA--in addition, its upload solution is available preinstalled on devices from most handset manufacturers.
