Opera Mini browser expands to T-Mobile USA

Tools

Opera Software's Opera Mini mobile browser is now available for download across eight T-Mobile USA feature phone models: The Nokia 2330, Nokia 2720, Nokia 3711, Nokia 5130, Sony Ericsson Equinox, Samsung T239, Samsung T659 and Nokia E73 Mode. Opera Mini's compression technology shrinks webpages by up to 90 percent before loading content to the phone, promising accelerated surfing even on 2.5G or EDGE networks. Opera Mini now boasts 71.2 million users worldwide.

Last month, Opera unveiled Open Mobile Ad Exchange, a new service delivering cloud-based mobile advertising across smartphones and feature phones running Opera Mini. According to Opera, Open Mobile Ad Exchange enables publishers to embed advertisements in their mobile content and applications, noting that promotions appear as regular website advertising, not in the browser interface. Publisher tools include near-real-time reporting and analytics as well as campaign management, frequency control and targeting mechanisms.
