Opera Mini pageviews surpass 12 billion per month
A month after reporting that Opera Mini mobile browser views topped 10 billion for the first time, browser development firm Opera Software announced that pageviews exceeded 12 million in July 2009, a 15.4 percent month-over-month increase and a 223 percent jump over July 2008 totals. According to Opera's latest State of the Mobile Web report, Opera Mini now counts nearly 29.1 million worldwide users, a 9.9 percent increase from June 2009 and a 145 percent year-over-year leap. In addition, Opera Mini users generated nearly 187 million MB of data for operators worldwide last month, up 11.0 percent over the previous month--since July 2008, data traffic is up 223 percent.
In the U.S., Opera Mini page views per user now average 239 per month, a 189.5 percent year-over-year increase. Google remains the most visited website in terms of unique U.S. Opera Mini users, followed in descending order by Facebook, MySpace, Yahoo and Wikipedia. The BlackBerry 8330 Curve generated more U.S. pageviews than any other handset, trailed by the Samsung Instinct, the BlackBerry Bold and the LG Vu.
