Opera Mini pageviews top 10 billion for first time

Opera Mini browser users viewed more than 10.4 billion mobile web pages in June according to web browser development firm Opera Software's monthly State of the Mobile Web report, signaling the first time Opera Mini topped the 10 billion pageview mark in a single month. Opera Mini's unique user population increased 4.9 percent month-over-month to 26.5 million, up 143 percent over June 2008 totals--Opera Mini servers are now processing more than 346 million pages each day, an 8.4 percent increase over May 2009. Nokia devices remain responsible for the majority of Opera Mini activity worldwide, followed by Sony Ericsson--in the U.S., a majority of Opera Mini pageviews are generated via BlackBerry and Samsung handsets.

Opera Mini pageview growth in the U.S. increased 154.5 percent year-over-year, with unique user growth up 38.4 percent over the same period. U.S. subscribers now average 223 pageviews each month. Google remains the most visited mobile website in the U.S., followed in descending order by Facebook, MySpace, Wikipedia and CNN.
