Opera Mini tops 25 million downloads on GetJar

Independent app store GetJar announced that the Opera Mini mobile browser has been downloaded more than 25 million times through its virtual storefront--according to GetJar, that's the most downloaded app ever from any app store to date. The 25 million total includes various versions of Opera Mini released over time--GetJar reports that the latest version, Opera Mini v4.2, alone accounts for about 7.5 million downloads since the beginning of this year and remains one of GetJar's top five most popular apps worldwide. Opera Mini downloads span the Java, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile platforms.

Total downloads on GetJar now exceed half a billion--the app store provides more than 50,000 different mobile applications to consumers in more than 200 countries.
