Opera Mobile 9.7 beta unveiled
Web browser development firm Opera Software announced the beta release of Opera Mobile 9.7 for Windows Mobile devices, promising a faster browsing experience thanks to the addition of the firm's new Opera Turbo technology. According to Opera, the beta release also boasts its newly-upgraded Opera Presto 2.2 browser engine and features server-accelerated rendering and advanced compression technology to improve download rates. Opera Mobile 9.7 also features the add-on Opera Widgets manager and Opera Widgets SDK, including pre-installed widgets GeoQuiz, Twitter, Bubbles, MyStatus and Google.
Opera adds that the 9.7 beta release enables operators to reduce bandwidth costs and expand network capacity to deliver data services. The firm notes that manufacturers can install Opera Mobile to offload rendering to Opera servers, translating to a reduction in device memory requirements and lower component costs.
