Opera Software CEO Jon von Tetzchner steps down
Web browser developer Opera Software announced that CEO Jon von Tetzchner is resigning from the post he's held since co-founding the firm in 1995, with Lars Boilesen grabbing the chief executive reins. According to Opera, von Tetzchner will continue to serve with the company full-time in a strategic and independent capacity. Boilesen was Opera's executive vice president of sales from 2000 to 2005, at which time he joined Alcatel-Lucent as CEO of the Nordics and the Baltics. He rejoined Opera in early 2009 as chief commercial officer.
According to Opera's most recent State of the Mobile Web Report, Opera Mini mobile browser users topped 41.7 million in November 2009, a 5.3 increase from Oct. 2009 and more than 154 percent over Nov. 2008 totals. Opera Mini pageviews exceeded 18.8 billion pages for the month, up 9.5 percent month-over-month and a 231 percent annual increase.
