Opera Widgets extend to feature phones

Mobile web solutions provider Opera Software announced its Opera Widgets platform is now available for virtually all mobile handsets, including mass-market devices. Opera Widgets enable operators and handset makers to provide immediate access to content and services based on open web standards--according to Opera, the revamped platform takes advantage of the firm's new cross-platform UI framework, developed to help operators and manufacturers distribute a single browser UI across an array of devices. The firm adds that the Opera Mini-based Widgets platform includes the same UI and feature set as its Opera Mobile Widgets Manager, complete with server-side rendering.
