Orange adds Xiam content recommendation service

In related news, operator Orange UK announced an agreement with content delivery and recommendations service provider Xiam Technologies for the provision of its My Personal Offers System, which offers subscribers real-time recommendations across the Orange World Portal. MPOS bases its content recommendations on unique user profiles--according to an example provided by Orange, a soccer fan may be offered the FIFA 2007 game and a Chelsea club wallpaper, followed by more subtle recommendations determined on usage patterns identified and filtered according to individual user profiles. Orange adds MPOS can recommend content across different categories and suggest content a subscriber may not otherwise discover.

"It is the first time our customers will be able to access a diverse range of content services through a tailored recommendations page on Orange World that is based on the intelligence we have gathered from each user's previous visits," said Orange UK portal relevance manager Jim Small in a prepared statement. "For us it is about enhancing and personalizing the customer experience, whilst increasing customer loyalty and content revenues.  We believe that Xiam's MPOS technology will help us do this."
