Orange debuts Social Life aggregator service

Tools

European mobile operator Orange announced the launch of Social Life, a new social networking service that aggregates users' Facebook, MySpace and Bebo accounts in one central place. According to Orange, the Social Life homescreen enables subscribers to view and post updates, upload photos, send and receive messages and accept friend requests--users can access all three social networks at the same time via single log-in, with Orange looking to incorporate additional services and Web 2.0 sites in the months ahead. The operator adds that the popularity of mobile social networking continues to grow across its network--the most recent Orange Digital Media Index revealed a 129 percent increase in monthly page impressions and a 48 percent jump in monthly unique users.

Orange additionally announced the introduction of Orange Widget Player, a customizable interface promising more efficient access to content and applications directly from the homescreen of Orange Signature devices. Orange Widget Player enables customers to instantly access news, weather and sport updates along with applications like search, Wikipedia and world clock. Widget Player is now available on the Nokia 6303, with further handsets scheduled to follow.
