Orange launches mobile advertising service
Orange UK announced the introduction of Orange Shots, a new mobile advertising service enabling brands to engage and interact directly with targeted segments of the operator's subscriber base. Scheduled to launch Feb. 1 and powered by Blyk Media (the ad-supported MVNO acquired by Orange last summer), Orange Shots will initially focus on Orange's Pay As You Go Monkey customers, with new profiles and customer segments to follow--the service will operate across the carrier's SMS and MMS platforms, promising advertisers the tools to create campaigns emphasizing customers' interests and preferences. In addition to offers, subscribers will receive exclusive news and gossip, film and games previews, and sports updates--Orange adds that customers can opt out of the program at any time, and notes it will not share subscriber information externally to third parties.
