Orange launches multi-platform App Shop
European operator Orange announced the introduction of its Orange App Shop, promising subscribers one-click homescreen access to more than 5,000 applications, games, ringtones and wallpapers. The storefront is available across a range of handsets including Java, Android, Blackberry, Symbian and Windows Mobile devices, and includes services like Orange TV, Orange Games and Orange Maps alongside software from third-party developer partners. According to Orange, all App Shop purchases can be added to the subscriber's existing monthly bill, eliminating pre-registration and credit card use.
Orange App Shop is available now to subscribers in the U.K. and France, with additional markets slated to roll out throughout 2010. Initially available as an over-the-air download, App Shop will begin arriving preloaded on Orange devices in January, beginning with the Nokia 6700, Sony Ericsson W995 and Sony Ericsson Yari U100i.
